Walteph Stonewright is the Innkeeper's representative in the Havenford Guild hall. He didn't start out as an innkeeper, or even a resident though. Walteph originally came from the Halls of Deep Steel. His father was a well-known smith within the halls by the name of Onteph. He was skilled at his craft but he lacked the passion to become a master smith. A conflict between the human tribes that surrounded the western entrance to the Halls was the first thing to draw his attention from the subterranean. One of the tribes was losing, and they reached out to the dwarves for sanctuary. The dwarves agreed, having traded with both sides for years, to help them coexist. Onteph volunteered to help them negotiate, and he brought supplies and foodstuff to barter as well. It took a few months for them to come to an agreement, and during that time Onteph continued to trade with the humans for their carvings, weavings and the food they grew. Many of these things had never reached the Halls of Deep Steel, and his fellow dwarves were quite interested in obtaining them. He decided to leave his forge behind and become a merchant, bringing finely crafted dwarven steel out into the world and returning with the odds and ends that dwarves never thought to craft.
